The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has redesigned its organization's logo, and I think for the better. The GLAAD organization is a national group that “amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively.” The logo redesign is consistent with its mission: before, the logo was not representative of the "voice" the group has for gays and lesbians. Now, the logo clearly shows (with the symbol that looks like a speakerphone) the goals of the group, which is to give a voice to gays and lesbians across the country. The use of color in the logo also helps send out the message of being loud and outspoken- the reds and oranges really pop out and are strong colors, which is also consistent with the group's goal to speak out for the rights of the LGBT community. I really like the new logo because I think it gives the group a better identity, one that is closer to the type of message that the organization wants to convey.
